Starkey (Trouble & Bass, Werk Discs) and his pal Dev79 lead off their vinyl release program with a white label of some tunes from their latest Street Bass Anthems CD, Vol. 3.
After a recent string of releases on labels such as Lo Dubs, Ruff and Dead Homies, Starkey drops a real jaw dropper with is his rendition of “Blow Ya Mind,” featuring some of his sickest synth work yet. Then MOVES!!! adds his remix of R. Kelly’s “Real Talk” which has been rocking mixtapes on LowBee and Dubstep Forum. Dev79 follows appearances on Seclusiasis, Slit Jockey, Dead Homies, Sonicterror, Zenapolae, SPB, Akhenation, and more with TWO refixes, one of Lil Jon ft. Fabo & Gucci Mane’s "I’m a J” and the other Milano ft. Turf Talk & Mistah FAB’s “Yes Sir."
Starkey has stepped up his game with his appearance on Mary Anne Hobbs' "Generation Bass" on BBC August 28.
"7 of the hottest young producers and DJs stepped up to the decks for a very special session. This week Generation Bass was recorded live at the legendary BBC Maida Vale studios, and hosted by the inimitable MC Sgt Pokes.
The show was specially curated by the original 7 DJs from the seminal Dubstep Warz of 2006. They each selected one artist from the global bass scene to play an exclusive set for the show.
Make way for the future sounds of Silkie & Quest, Kulture, Joker & MC Nomad, Starkey, Chef, Oneman, and Cyrus back-to-back!"
Starkey debuted 2 tracks off this EP + tracks off his forthcoming album on Planet Mu.
They continue to keep the dancefloors raw and sweaty throughout Philadelphia and beyond, wih a deep selection of urban beats designed to appeal to DJs rocking everything from Bmore breaks, ghetto-tech anthems and dubstep sub-rockers. Here’s their first chance to drop vinyl for the real, hardworking, vinyl-lugging beat workers. Respect!
