vulnerabilities and consequences features six exclusive tracks by leading minimal - underground - analogue - robot - electro - nix - pop producers:
SOLVENT has been releasing his unique brand of synthesizer/electro-pop: too elegant and sincere for the electroclash set, too complex and contemporary to sound like it was recorded in 1981, and too seeped in the time-honoured traditions of melody, songwriting and hands-on synthesis to be lost in the overcrowded world of IDM. Solvent is widely regarded in the underground electronica community as being at the forefront of electro-pop’s return to form. The Wire recently described Solvent as part of a new generation of composers, “gleefully blurring the lines” between modern techno and vintage techno-pop.
MINISYSTEM was living in the UK when he first got seriously into electronic sounds, collecting records compulsively before assembling his own studio. After several false starts he became increasingly dissatisfied with digital synthesis and sampling, but found solace in the warmth and imprecision of outmoded analogue technology. An obsessive collector of vintage equipment, minisystem’s tiny studio is rammed full of modular synthesizers, old keyboards and drum machines. Entrenched in this fuzzy analogue world, minisystem crafts his own elusive sound with rudimentary fragments of pop, house, techno and electro.
GOUDRON is a one man army, armed to the teeth with an arsenal of vintage synthesizers, drum machines, and circuit mangled electronics he modifies himself. The jams unleashed from this Detroit native compel ones body to hurl through space at critical velocity and takes listeners on a contemplative ride through a post apocalyptic world. The music of Goudron will hook, bruise, molest and caress you, evoking memories of rebellious youth and love gone bad. Charged with emotional depth, exciting mood swings and continual drive, Goudron makes music that is wholly synthetic, while harnessing the energy of pure Detroit rock.
LOWFISH ranks among the worlds leading electronica producers. He has released records on some of independent dance music's most influential labels, has charted in North America and is noted for his punishing sets of live electronics. His clinical production style is both very modern and built on the DNA of early new wave and IDM. Sometimes dark, often melodic and multi-layered, Lowfish tracks strive for meaning, timelessness and quality. The weapons of choice are what they have been from the start; semi-operational analog synths, temperamental drum machines and scratchy recording gear. The name Lowfish is a reference to these dusty machines and his early lo-fi "ish" sound — thus Lowfish.
BETA EVERS grew up with new wave and experimental electronics. In the early nineties, she began organizing parties in her native Ausberg, Germany — soon forming local electronix network K6, and later, Kommando 6 (a label with a preference for the darker side of electronic music), Bodyvolt, and Venus Noir. In 2001 she started to compose and produce her own tracks. Aside from her solo material, Beta Evers has collaborated with MANASYt, Dystronic (in Black Spider Clan), and Heinrich Mueller aka Dopplereffekt, Der Zyklus (in Zwischenwelt).
GD LUXXE is Gerhard Potuznik, one of the most prolific and well respected artists in the underground community. He has released music continually since the mid eighties on numerous labels including: Angelika Köhlermann, Mego, Cheap, Interdimensional Transmissions, Suction Records, Breakin', and Ersatz Audio; produced tracks for Chicks on Speed; and remixed the likes of Adult., Le Car, and Wire.
